Where is Cara now? NYC for a week, then down to Washington, DC and right back on up again. An apple a day as they say!

A Day that went to the DAWGS

Before life takes the best of you, and the ones you love...make time for each other. Make it, your priority because you can’t take back, what’s gone. Shoulda, coulda, woulda. No. Just get it DONE.

gucci driving chow chow truck

 My babyMygfMy bavgvffvv

"Yeah, F-U too buddy!!!!" Gucci having road rage cuz of idiot drivers.

Up and out the door at around 9:30AM today.

Decided to bring the pups (more like old man and “shorty”) with me. (Time for a chicken souse run!)

Took a while to convince Gucci (my chow chow) to even get up and make his way towards the van. When he was a pup, and in his younger years, he was like an unstoppable freight train as he shot out the door and made his momentous dash towards the car. He was so filled with excitement and eager energy. Every second that passed, in which he had to wait for the car door to open, would cause him to whimper louder, shake his body, dance on his toes and wiggle his tail faster, and look at the door then at me, then at the door again like he was going schizo. It was almost like he had to PEE, but INSIDE the car.

And now, 14 or so years old, here’s my boy, struggling to lift his massive chow body, up and onto his legs. I persuaded him to follow me to the van. Then, like I was trying to talk him into jumping off a 1,000 ft cliff…he hesitates, and studies the obstacles in which he’d have to overcome, in order to jump in. After about 8 mins, he goes for it.

I drive smoothly today – I wanted Gucci to have a peaceful ride, unlike the times when the both of us were younger and “peaceful” nor “safe” were good descriptions of  our “yeow tze haw” (Chinese for “joy ride”)

After picking up my souse and a few other, random items at City Markets, I decided to stop into Butler’s for some yummy Prosciutto di Parma. MY FAVORITE. I was a vegan for 2 years, and my “last meal” was half a pound of Prosciutto di Parma. When I was traveling up and down Italy for a month, I rarely ate at a restaurant; I’d rather snack on prosciutto all day.

At Butler’s, I bumped into John D. He has the most amazing family. The kids are beautiful, like, magazine worthy (I told him I’d steal his son away, once he’s legal) and he and his wife are DEFINITE sights for sore eyes! But, most importantly…the insides, match the outsides. Two of the most outstanding people I know. (full stop, not even in Freeport, or the Bahamas. Two of the most outstanding people I know.)

Tara, his wife, is from Canada. (That explains a lot, as I’ve said before…I love my Maple Leafers) And John? Well, I guess Tara rubbed off on him. Ha ha

When I got home, Gucci slowly, but with tactical caution, made his way out of the van. As I walked towards the front door, I get a flash back of the countless, without fail, times he’d greet me at the side window with his tail wagging so fiercely, you’d think it’d just whip off. The last time I was here, he was there along with our newest addition, Coco. However, now that I look back, when I returned on Saturday, the tail wagging, jumping, acts-like-he’s-still-a-puppy guy, is gone. The age is finally catching up to him.

I can’t believe so many years have gone by. The last 2 times I came home, yes it was to see my parents and friends, but mainly it was the thought, of losing my Gucci. Each time I leave, he slows down, more and more and in dog years, he ain’t no spring chicken.

In almost every paragraph of this entry, my eyes have welled up in tears. In the car ride today my nose kept on stinging as I’d looked over at Gucci with the heart-wrenching knowledge that his time with us is running out.

It would be great, to one day be able to bring all the things and people I love, along with me, on my adventures. Though, by that time, the ones who mean the most, may not be around anymore. Oh, if only we could shrink the world.

The most important thing for me is making time for the ones I love. Hence, the “Loved Ones Tour” I’m currently on. I’m on country #2, city #7, month #2, with a whole hell-of-a-lot more to go. Just sit back and be patient, I’m on my way.

**Oh, and did I mention that a lady (her name escapes me) that works at Butler's said everytime she sees me back home, I get skinnier and skinnier. Guess those 5lbs I felt I gained during my 3 months in Mexico, are vanishing. Weeeeeee!!! Speaking of Mexico, let's have a CERVEZA shall we??????? SALUD ALL!!!!**

Short clip of SPAZZ (Gucci) when he was younger.

Cute clip of Coco, newest Chan Clan addition. PLUS, a very special surprise ending!! Stay tuned!
